What are Custom Acrylic Prints?
Acrylic is a hard, lightweight, and long-lasting plastic material. It has a glass-like, transparent appearance, but unlike glass it is shatter-proof. This type of professional-grade acrylic also goes by the names Plexiglas, Acrylite, Lucite, and Perspex.
Our custom acrylic prints are printed directly onto high-quality acrylic. This allows a multitude of customizations like partially transparent displays and the ability to print high-resolution photos with luminous, full-range color. They are completely customizable, including custom-cut, color, design, finishes, and more.
Custom acrylic prints are able to be used both indoors and out. They can be used as business signs or beautifully showcase art. This type of material is a modern, low maintenance solution for long term displays.
Top Benefits of Custom Acrylic Prints
For a powerful, eye-catching display, our custom acrylic prints are a great solution and offer multiple benefits to customers.
Acrylic prints fit a multitude of sign or visual display needs. Whether you want to create an outdoor sign showcasing your company logo and name or curate a gallery of high-quality art photos, these prints will bring life to whatever custom design you choose. Plus, we use UV resistant inks to ensure long-lasting vibrant colors whether you use them indoors or outdoors.
Our high-quality acrylic is water-resistant. So if water, coffee or any other liquid ends up on the print surface, you can simply wipe it away. This quality also makes custom acrylic prints a great display option for humid climates.
Acrylic prints are also lightweight, so can be mounted or hung from walls or ceilings without fear of destroying the drywall or support. Plus, they are easy to transport if you will be moving them to different locations or taking them with you to events.
Plus, the acrylic material is perfect for adding vinyl lettering, decals, or print films to feature temporary messages without ruining the entire print or having to print an entirely new custom print.

Sizing for Custom Acrylic Prints
Our custom acrylic prints come in a variety of sizes and thickness options.
Thickness: We offer the standard 1⁄8″ thickness for most of our prints. Should you need a thicker acrylic for added durability, greater light refraction, and more visual depth, you can opt for the ¼” thick prints. We also recommend getting a thicker acrylic for larger prints. You can consult with us directly if you are unsure which thickness is right for you.
For all signs greater than 60”, we recommend a centered top and bottom drilled hole for optimal support. Acrylic signs do have some bendability to them, so ensuring they are properly supported is important.
Size: We offer a wide range of sizes, all of which can be custom cut to your preference. Sizes available can range from 4″ up to 96” (8’).
There are a number of installation options available for custom acrylic prints. Typically they are affixed to a rigid surface such as wood, drywall, metal, or concrete.
Our team offers a wide range of options. Often we include round standoffs or concealed cleats for hanging.
We also offer full back frames for prints over 24″ x 36″ so that the acrylic doesn’t bow or flex. The back frames are made from aluminum and include a cleat for hanging. Remember, back frames are an additional cost and the cost of all hanging options is completely dependent on what size prints you are buying and how many.
Lifespan of Custom Acrylic Prints
Custom acrylic prints are printed on high-quality, long-lasting professional grade acrylic. When cared for properly, it can last for more than ten years.
Generally, the lifespan will vary depending on the location. So if your print is located outside and must endure harsh weather and climate conditions, it will not last as long. The overall lifespan ranges from 5-10+ years.
Getting a laminate will increase the longevity of your sign and add a sleeker, glossier look. Plus, it will help to resist scratches.
For more temporary displays for trade shows or for presentations foam boards are a good option.
Caring for Your Custom Acrylic Prints
Our custom acrylic prints are designed to be long-lasting, however proper care is required to ensure that they remain in optimal shape and maintain their high quality.
The acrylic material can be easily scratched or chipped when it is not carefully handled. We package it carefully to make sure it is delivered to you in perfect condition. Be sure to exercise caution when moving it and cleaning it. Avoid all sharp objects and cover it with soft fabric or protective wrap when not using it to prevent accidental scratches.

Which is better when it comes to glass prints vs custom acrylic prints?
Custom acrylic prints are similar in appearance to glass prints. However, acrylic is often a safer alternative since it is both shatterproof and lightweight.
Is there a difference between acrylic printing and plexiglass printing?
Acrylic is actually the generic name for Plexiglass. According to Wikipedia, “Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), also known as acrylic or acrylic glass as well as by the trade names Plexiglas, Acrylite, Lucite, and Perspex among several others (see below), is a transparent thermoplastic often used in sheet form as a lightweight or shatter-resistant alternative to glass.”
So if you’re looking for Plexiglass printing, our acrylic prints are exactly what you are looking for. Feel free to reach out to discuss generic acrylic prints vs plexiglass prints anytime. We are happy to further clarify the relationship between acrylic and plexiglass.
When should I choose canvas prints vs custom acrylic prints?
When it comes to displaying artwork, your preferred aesthetic will determine whether canvas or acrylic is the better print option.
Often, that includes style and durability considerations. Canvas offers a more traditional, classic appearance. It is not as durable and long-lasting but is a great option for reproducing the appearance of a painting and the material is lighter in weight.
Acrylic prints are often a better fit for more modern aesthetics. They are more durable and longer-lasting, plus you have the option of leaving transparent, see-through spaces for a unique design option.

Do custom acrylic prints have UV protection?
Yes. Our custom acrylic prints are printed with high-quality UV inks. If you’re looking for a high level of UV protection for your images, our professional-grade acrylic will last much longer than other materials.
Our archival printing method ensures that these will be resistant to UV rays for much longer. This means you can display them in bright rooms that don’t have any UV filtering, or even outdoors.
Can I just drill my own holes?
Yes. You are welcome to drill holes into your acrylic print. However, if you choose to do that, then that will void any ability for us to replace, repair, or refund the design due to any resulting damage.
Should you proceed to drill your own holes, any ordinary drill with a proper bit can do the job.
